Combination Welder-Pipe – CWP
Offered by Advanced Industrial Training
Program Duration: Approximately 10 weeks (2.5 months)
Schedule Options: Morning / Afternoon / Evening
CIP Code: 48.0508

The Combination Welder-Pipe (CWP) program at Advanced Industrial Training is built for students seeking careers in advanced pipe welding, precision manufacturing, exotic metals welding, and related fields within the welding industry. This accelerated program delivers in-depth training in precision pipe welding using inert gas processes, with a strong emphasis on safety, technical skill, and hands-on experience.

Throughout the course, students will develop the knowledge and expertise required to perform pipe welds in industrial environments, with special attention to weld quality, code standards, and working with challenging materials. Instruction includes both classroom theory and practical application on live welding stations.

Key skills and topics covered in the CWP program include:

  • Pipe welding using GTAW (TIG) techniques

  • Welding exotic steels and alloys

  • Safety standards and procedures for pipe welding environments

  • Interpretation of pipe welding symbols and fabrication drawings

  • Inert gas shielding and proper machine settings

  • Techniques for weld preparation, alignment, and finishing

  • Precision welding in shop or industrial settings

At the end of the program, students will complete a hands-on welding exam in the GTAW process. Those who pass the assessment will earn a Welder Qualification Certificate issued by an AWS Certified Welding Inspector.

Graduates of the Combination Welder-Pipe program will receive a Certificate of Completion and be equipped to pursue entry-level roles such as:

  • Pipe Welders (Shop or Field)

  • Maintenance/Repair Welders

  • Fabricators

  • Precision Manufacturing Welders

  • Oil and Gas Industry Welders

  • Welder Helpers

Join Advanced Industrial Training and build a specialized skill set that can take your welding career into the world of pipe fabrication, exotic metals, and precision welding.
